As an accomplished curator and founder of the Royal Rose Gallery located in the heart of downtown Aurora ON, Rosa Calabrese has dedicated her career to celebrating artistic excellence and nurturing cultural dialogue within her community. With years of experience in the art world, including managing a gallery for artist Won Lee (a celebrated Korean-Canadian sculptor) to an educator at McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Rosa has curated numerous successful exhibitions and championed emerging and established artists alike. Her commitment to fostering creativity has positioned her as a respected voice in the local art scene. Driven by a profound belief that art can educate, engage and empower, Rosa’s work is fueled by her passion to make art accessible and meaningful to all. She finds joy in creating spaces where artists and audiences come together to share stories, spark conversations, and cultivate deeper understanding.
Among her proudest accomplishments is the successful establishment of the Royal Rose Gallery as a vibrant cultural hub, the creation of innovative community programs, and her mentorship of young curators and artists. Having the opportunity to host two Canadian Prime Ministers and exhibiting immigrant artists, Rosa’s efforts have not only brought diverse voices to the forefront but also strengthened community bonds through art. Looking ahead, Rosa aims to expand the gallery’s reach through traveling exhibitions, educational workshops, and cross-cultural collaborations. Her vision includes fostering greater inclusivity in the arts and continuing to support underrepresented artists in gaining the recognition they deserve.
